CCKS, an independent noncommercial body, was founded by Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO, Russian Academy of Sciences) and joint-stock company “Han Ru” representing Korean sponsors under the auspices  of IMEMO, and officially registered in Moscow in  March, 2003.

CCKS concentrates on: analyzing political and economic issues on the Korean peninsula in the regional context; supporting exchange and dissemination of  knowledge about  modern Korea in Russia and knowledge about Russia in the states of the Korean peninsula;  stimulating academic contacts between Russian and Korean experts and researchers.

CCKS supports research projects, especially  implemented  by Russian  scholars, and promotes  publication of the results of the projects.  Monographs and  papers in Russian and Korean languages are occasionally issued .

CCKS directs issuing on a regular basis of the Russian-Korean magazine ”KORUS FORUM” which presents the articles by Russian and Korean authors and information about academic events at the Center both in Russian and Korean. Corresponding web-site in Russian, Korean and English is maintained by the Center.

CCKS undertakes  organizing conferences, meetings, roundtables, both national and international, on an interdisciplinary basis, bringing together experts on topical issues of the Korean peninsula, on the development of political and economic relations between Russia and both Korean states. Results and recommendations of these meetings and fora are disseminated in Russia, in ROK and DPRK and in other countries among experts, politicians and businessmen.

Management of the Centre is carried out by the Council of Trustees and the Managing Board including representatives of founders.
